Cow Going Abstract is Roy Lichtenstein’s homage to Pablo Picasso’s 1945 “Bull” series, in which the artist, over a sequence of 11 images of a bull, renders it from a figurative image to a simple line drawing. Similarly, Lichtenstein transforms his bull into his trademark geometric planes and stripes. This triptych reproduces Lichtenstein’s painting of the same name from 1974.
